Facts About Demineralization
RTI Biologics processes bone paste implants, starting with demineralized bone that has been tested in vivo for
bone formation*. Moisture is removed, and the bone paste is mixed with a gelatin carrier. RTI pastes are
sterilized through the demineralization process, a validated viral inactivation step.
Many of these bone pastes serve as bone void fillers in spine, general orthopedic and even dental surgeries. After
packaging, paste products are inspected and tested to assure compliance with all standards.
*Finished product induced bone formation when implanted in a modified athymic nude rat assay. Findings
from an animal model are not necessarily predictive of human clinical results.
